By its own nature, Austin plays host to a variety of vibrant, unique, and unforgettable locations–many of which are free to enjoy. They also happen to make great spots for photography! These options will leave your finances untouched while still serving as the perfect backdrop for your engagement shoot.

South Congress Avenue + Bridge

South Congress Avenue really does have it all; from the shopping to the sights, it’s likely to keep you busy. The bridge also has a lot of versatility, and offers numerous angles and spots for unique shots–and maybe a glimpse of the famous bats? Its biggest drawback is its popularity, so you may need to head there early in the morning or on a slow day to try and beat the crowd.

Austin Capitol Building and Grounds

Known far and wide, the Capitol Building and grounds are picturesque during any time of the year. Sprawling, manicured lawns, a variety of trees, and historic architecture give this spot a unique charm and style all its own. Who knows, you may even decide to elope there!

Butler Park

Plenty of variety and easy access to other nearby locations, Butler Park is a local favorite destination. It also boasts some incredible views of downtown, giving you a delightful blend of urban and natural. Make sure you check out the fountain–it lights up at night! Walk, bike, and share a picnic with your partner all while getting some unforgettable photos.

Austin Engagement Photo Locations with a Fee

In a city as charming and unique as Austin, there are so many visually stunning locations that can be a part of your engagement story. If you’re looking for a little more privacy for your photo shoot, you might want to consider a location that requires a fee and appointment. Beat the crowds and spend some time in a few of Austin’s more notable–and exclusive–locations.

Laguna Gloria

Also a popular venue to get married, Laguna Gloria is one of Austin’s main go-to locations for photos of all types. Step into a world of contemporary art and contemplative sculpture that will make you feel like you’ve left the city behind altogether. Reservations must be made at least 72 hours in advance and a photography fee of $150 is required. Make sure you check out their photography guidelines ahead of time.

Sekrit Theater

Designed by artists, architects, craftsmen, and more, Sekrit Theater is a one-of-a-kind photography space on the Eastside of Austin. Here, you’ll find a variety of backdrops and pieces to enhance your photography needs–and elevate your engagement shoot to the next level! Zilker Botanical Garden

Looking for an oasis in downtown Austin? Zilker Botanical Garden sits on 28 acres in the heart of Austin and boasts a variety of botanical offerings to spice up your engagement shoot. Check out some of the theme gardens like the Taniguchi Japanese Garden, The Hartman Prehistoric Garden, and The Mabel Davis Rose Garden.
