Austin has no shortage of amazing wedding and private event venues, and we love to tell you about what makes them all special! Sometimes, the most special place you can get married is somewhere personal and meaningful, bucking the traditional venues for something that will still be a part of your life after it all ends. Dolma and Kirill wanted their wedding day to be an opportunity for friends and family to come together, both in person and in their involvement in the preparations.

The Right Amount of Planning

Dolma and Kirill had clear themes in mind for their big day, but they were also mindful not to overplan the occasion. With desert themes, elements of their shared Russian and Mexican cultural heritages, and simple, modern design, they knew these guiding principles would result in a wedding that was a reflection of who they are.

Dolma’s simple-yet-elegant dress was complimented by Kirill’s brown suit, and both were ready for anything with a pair of cowboy boots on! The bridesmaids and groomsmen were also dressed perfectly, the former in colored dresses of their choice and the groomsmen taking a note from Kirill’s look.

“Involve the family, facilitate the tasks to people around you and allow them to add their own flair. Seeing everyone’s finger prints around the wedding is the coolest feeling. Everyone helps with the best intentions, and you’ll be surprised at how much better things turn out when you release a little control.”

Focus on Family

Both Dolma and Kirill were so excited to be marrying their best friend, and they were thrilled to see their closest people together in one place for the first time after years of separation for some of them. A family friend graciously volunteered to handle the day-of planning, and many other friends and family were involved in bringing it all together. Inviting growth and change, Dolma cut her hair down to a short bob, readying herself to take a new journey with Kirill as they grow together. Take a glance through their photos, and it’s plain to see that these two are thrilled to finally be married!

This gathering was a true joining of the love and admiration that the most important people in their lives share for the couple. Dolma recognized that overplanning the wedding wasn’t the play, so she invited those around them to be involved in the process, resulting in some truly special touches. The pair also knew that it was important for their wedding to feel uniquely them, and made sure that they didn’t sacrifice their identity in the details and elements of the big event.

The love was freely flowing at Dolma and Kirill’s family-focused wedding, and it was a joy for us to work with them!
