Reflecting Love and Light on South Congress Avenue | Erin + Alec

In addition to being right on the cusp of Downtown Austin, the South Congress Hotel features timeless style, verdant gardens, and more for any guest or event. Perhaps, most importantly, it’s situated on one of Austin’s most well-known streets: South Congress Avenue. Erin and Alec wanted their wedding to reflect who they are as people and as a couple, and that meant a ceremony hosted on their favorite avenue was an absolute must.

Home is What Matters

The couple recognized that they are city people through and through, so it was important to them that their wedding be a representation of that identity. Erin and Alec love walking down South Congress Ave and exploring everything Austin has to offer; from the restaurants to the shops, there is much to discover. Their third date occurred at a South Congress institution (June’s All Day), so their love story quite literally was forged here. As a result, there was no better place than the South Congress Hotel for the next step of that story.

Simple, Clean, Elegant

The couple focused on three specific adjectives when planning their big day: simple, clean, and elegant. They already loved the look and aesthetic that the Hotel had to offer, so they wanted to accentuate what was already there. They chose florals that added bursts of color and texture, and kept the decorations minimal and simple. Erin and Alec knew that the most important thing to be highlighted that day was the love they had built together. Beyond that, all they really needed was their closest friends and family and some beautiful hand-written vows.

“We wanted our wedding to be a reflection of us and not give into the traditions that we didn’t resonate with.”

You’ll Find Our Hearts on South Congress

The couple loved having their families gather together in one place–many for the first time ever. The pair are from different states (Utah and Pennsylvania), so seeing people get to meet each other for the first time was really special. Overall, their favorite part had to be sharing their vows with one another. The ceremony was crafted with the officiant to fully reflect their love, and they wrote their own vows to add that personal touch that makes a wedding unforgettable. If they could offer advice for other couples, it would include being authentic to yourself as a couple and to take the time to soak in all of the love and attention.

With such a beautifully planned ceremony behind them, Erin and Alec’s future is looking bright.
