Metropolitan Engagement Shoot in Austin, Texas | Xavia + Luke

By the time you get engaged, you and your partner have likely already created many memories together. It’s a collection of moments that tell the story of two lives coming together. It’s this story that becomes the foundation for the rest of your (wedded) lives!

I always try to incorporate some of these memories in an engagement shoot, because I love how uniquely different each story is. I usually do this by picking a few locations together with the couple that is special to them, or is an important marker in their journey. This obviously only works when the couple is from the city that we’re shooting in. If that’s not the case, we get to create new memories while we are shooting, which is also really special!

This is what happened with the engagement shoot of Xavia and Luke. This beautiful couple is fairly new to Austin, but they both work downtown. That gave us a few spots that were familiar to them, although we also went to a ton of places that were new to them.

We got some romantic shots on a rooftop with the glistening buildings in the background, and had more than our daily dose of caffeine at Houndstooth Coffee. Their engagement shoot became quite the metropolitan adventure, and I think we all enjoyed discovering new spots in the city.

My favorite moment was when we went to Voodoo Doughnuts. First of all, their donuts are BOMB, and a visit to Austin isn’t complete unless you’ve tasted some of their goodies. Xavia and Luke were feeding each other their own donut, trying to be all romantic and such, but… they hated each other’s chosen donut. It was hilarious! Lovey-dovey gazes into your partner’s eyes are pretty difficult if your tastebuds aren’t happy with what they’ve just been fed, LOL. It didn’t take long for Xavia to come up with the brilliant idea to switch donuts, so they’d be feeding each other the donut they actually liked. That worked out much better! They got cute photos and a tasty treat, and I got a good laugh out of it!

Xavia and Luke are the kind of people that everyone loves to be around. I’d say that Austin got a great new addition with this amazing couple! I’m very stoked to hang with them again on their wedding day.

And between you and me… I kinda hope that they will pick two different kinds of wedding cake flavors, just so I can get another round of laughter during their cake cutting pics. šŸ˜‰
